First Steps

Here are a few quick photos from the past week. We have been busy outdoors grilling out, at the pool, zoo, etc. Lola is on the move and she actually took her first few steps this afternoon! It was so unexpected, but so exciting. Though I think it will still be a while before she actually starts walking. Tonight is the last night of VBS, so I am looking forward to taking it easy for a few days before Andrew’s 10 Year reunion and a quick trip to Atlanta this weekend.

July Update

Things have been so busy the past few weeks, it’s been hard finding time to take photos! Lola is great and we have been enjoying this unusual July weather (it’s starting to freak me out a bit). We are making the transition from 1 to 2 naps and it is the worst. I try and squeeze in 2 naps when possible, but most days it is only 1.

Waiting on a few friends to come over and play, I just love those thighs!

My brother planted a wonderful garden this spring and we have been reaping the benefits the past few weeks. There are tons of peppers, I have made salsa, jalapeno poppers, etc. It’s really been fun having all the fresh veggies. Thanks Uncle Nate!

Lola's new favorite thing to do is give high fives, for some reason it is usually when we are eating dinner. Here she is in action...

4th of July

We had a wonderful July 4th weekend in Atlanta. On Friday we headed to Sun Valley Beach for the day. I had not been there since my senior picnic in high school. Lola loved the kids water section and only came out for a quick diaper changed and to eat a bite of lunch. The weather was gorgeous and it was just the perfect day.

She was a little unsure about the slide

Saturday afternoon we went to my cousin Brian’s house for a cookout. We had a great time with family and Lola sure enjoyed their pool & slip–n-slide.

On Monday, we were back in Nashville and headed to have lunch with Lori & Colt, who were in town for a visit. We had a great time and can’t wait to visit again. Notice Colt & Lola are holding hands...

So yesterday I put Lola down for a nap like always. She just had on a diaper and a t-shirt, which is pretty normal around our house. Well, when she woke up and I went to get her, I found this…she had taken her diaper off and she was just sitting there, so proud of herself. The diaper was completely dry and there was not a mess in the bed. I guess from now on, to be safe, we will have to nap with pants on!

The Party

Lola had a wonderful first birthday party, everyone had so much fun. It was just a perfect day all around! Here is a our attempt at a family picture.

I loved her cake and so did Lola. Not only did it look cute, it tasted wonderful. We finally had to take it away from Lola because she ate so much of it I was afraid she was going to be sick. She had cake and icing everywhere, we headed straight for the bath.

She totally had the best time opening her gifts. She spent time with all of them, it was so cute.

The water table gift was a huge hit with Lola & her cousin Beau. They had the best time playing in the water.

Since they were already so wet, we just stripped them down and set up the slide and pool. Lola was a little hesitant at first, but as you can see from the photos, Beau loved it.
